After a stressful day: mother's day, teaching a lesson, giving a sacrament talk, we went to my parents house to celebrate Jonas' birthday and Mother's day. Steve made some awesome ribs and flank steak on the BBQ, and Steve's parents, my parents, and Dondi and Keeley were able to enjoy a nice meal. I love spending time with family.
I stressed over what to do for food and cake for Jonas. I couple months ago Jonas starting showing signs of a diary allergy. He is pretty severe and our hope is he will grow out of it. For the time being, it has been quite hard to find things this boy can eat. It is pretty much veggies, fruit, and meat, and then of course, he still nurses and probably will until about 2. I made banana muffins for cupcakes and there isn't milk in angel food cake, so we had strawberry shortcake. He also enjoyed babyfood for his birthday!
Jonas got many exciting, noisey gifts for his birthday! Thanks to our family for all the fun things. We give him a basketball hoop and the girls picked out a ball and some cars!
On his actual birthday we took it easy. We just went to Applebee's as a family and enjoyed time together! The girls sang to him and gave him their gifts.
At one Jonas...
- can say mama, mom, dada, ball, car, binkie
- he loves to clap and blow kisses and sometimes waves bye
- he can crawl though it is mainly an army crawl
- has walked about 12 steps unassisted
- loves to walk along furniture, though he can't do the up and down transitions yet
- has had 1 surgery, 3 circumcisions
- allergy to dairy, sensitive skin
- has acid reflux, doesn't like real food in his mouth only pureed baby food
- no teeth yet
- loves to play in his room, TOY HEAVEN
- still wakes up about twice a night, takes 2 naps a day
- adores his sisters especially when they play with him
- loves being outside
- loves splashing in the bathtub
- loves to babble, sing, and dance
- loves his binkie
- has his family wrapped around his fingers!
He went to the doctors today and is still in the 90% on height, but dropped to the 10% on weight. He was 21 lbs., but is now 19 1/2 lbs. His head is normal. Hopefully with his strict diet, we can keep him feed, healthy, and happy. He is also low on iron, so he will now be getting iron, and a vitamin supplement to ensure he is getting everything else he is lacking from food. He got 3 shots, but took it all like a PRO!
Happy Birthday to my Little Man!!
