Head + Rock = 5 staples (graphic)

We were beginning a camping trip, as in at the ccampsite, but nothing unloaded.  The girls were playing in the little stream and, though they were told not to, throwing rocks.  Kiana threw a big rock in the water, but somehow it hit Maile's head.
Maile was just crying because Kiana hurt her, I don't think she knew how bad she was hurt.  She instantly was covered in blood.  Head wounds bleed SO much.  We had nothing unpacked.  We couldn't get to or find the first aid kit or the wipes or water.  I finally got our a bottled water and poured it all over her head.  The gash was pretty long and deep, so we left the pop up trailer and went back to Tooele to the urgent care.
Maile was so brave!  The doctor said he had never seen a braver 4 year old.  I was even holding her down so she wouldn't move, but she didn't even try.  He gave her a shot to numb it and then put in 5 staples.   She didn't even flinch or cry, she was amazing!
I was worried about a concussion, but the doctor said she was acting fine, we were just told not to let her submerge her head in water and we went back out to camp.  We left and she wanted Cafe Rio before we went back to camp!

Nice dried blood on her shirt!  She really had it everywhere.

5 staple wound

But she is still happy and running around crazy.
Her head was tender for a few days, she couldn't lay on that said of her head, and somehow her sister kept bumping her sore.  One time she was stepping over the baby gate and kicked it, which caused it to bleed again.  But, just over a week late, we went back to the doctors and got them removed.  They said her head looks great and should continue to heal fine!  Moral of the story:  don't block the rocks with your head, or maybe just stay clear of your sister, or maybe just obey and don't throw rocks!!
