Growing way too Fast

My girls are getting so big. I can't believe they are almost 5 and 2, what will I do?!? I just wanted to put up some cute pictures, but don't have any good stories =) for once, right.

They are such cheesers. I am not the most patient mom. Today in Relief Society, we talked about living our values and a sister mentioned that she hoped her kids didn't remember all the times she lost it. I was thinking it would probably be hard to forget all the times I've lost it. My poor kids. How do I not lose it with my kids?? They are really the sweetest things, I mean, look at those faces. They are so innocent, and Heavenly Father entrusted them to me. I need to show my children more love and charity and patience.

"Cast" Away

Kiana takes the prize for being the first in our family to have a broken bone, try three broken bones. It has been so nice outside, we have had to be out enjoying it. We went to the park the other day with friends for a picnic lunch and playing on the playground. I guess Kiana is the little dare devil once she has seen someone else try something. The older kids were going down the fireman's pole, so she thought she would give it a try. Needless to say, she did not hold on.
I, however, get the prize for worst mother of the year. I was just sitting and catching up with friends when she began to cry. Knowing that either she would come to me, one of the older kids wold bring her to me, or she would just stop crying and continue to play, I just waited. Once she was brought to me, I cuddle and hugged and tried to send her on her way, NOT HAPPENING. I told her to stop crying or we would go to the car, home, and to bed for her. She put all her strength into it and stopped, for a moment. "Okay, time to go play. Get up and go." NOT HAPPENING. I was getting irrated. She finally stood, and collapsed to the ground grying. It was then that I noticed how swollen her foot really was. I felt awful. We don't get broken bones in our family, I was still thinking maybe it was bruised and she'd be fine. Luckily, my friends advised me to take her to urgent care. They were awesome with us. We got there about 15 minutes after it happened, got immediately back, they took x-rays, fit her for a boot, and we were out of there with the x-rays and told to see an orthopedic surgeon. Really the whole thing was 20 minutes. She got hurt, taken there, x-rayed, and out in under an hour, impressive.
So, this is the jist of what happened. She went down the pole with her feet back, landing on the tops of them. Both feet were scrapped up. On the right foot, she crakced the first and last toe on the metatarsels (up by the ankle) and broke the three two in between. Pretty much all her toes were affected in the foot. She is swollen and black and blue. The orthopedic surgeon said it looked good though. The breaks were in a straigh line, and should heal quickly. They were on the opposite side of the growth plate and we will ha to go back in two weeks for more x-rays to make sure they are healing correctly. As of now, no surgery, yeah!!!

We have been carrying her EVERYWHERE!!! Kind of difficult with a 21 month old to chase after too, but it could be worse. The doctor said when it isn't hurting her as bad, she can walk with the boot she has on. They tried crutches but they were an inch too small for her.

She has really been a good sport about it all. She gets around and plays well with her sister just crawling around, but bathtime is a joke. My new best friend is my double stroller, I'm glad they both still fit in it. But really, I am surprsied at how well she is done and am very grateful for my sweet girl. It could have been worse.
Kiana enjoyed being a cheerleader for her soocer team on Saturday. I feel it is still important she goes and supports her team, but I feel bad she can't play. It is just the beginning of the season and maybe by the end, she can play again. At least it didn't happen in the middle of the summer during swimming lessons and other things. She is already having a hard time understanding that she can't jump on the tramp or ride her bike or play at the playground. She will sure be excited when she can throw this "cast away"!!

3 beautiful girls

Keeley is growing so fast. It seems like Dondi just had her, but she is so BIG now. Dondi has spent some time with us, and so it has been nice to get to know this sweet baby. The girls adore her, a little too much, and they try to help so much. They are always talking about and praying for Baby Keeley. If she cries, they find a binkie or a blankie, they like to make her laugh, push her in the swing or carseat, hold her hand, and just comfort or tickle her.
I thought it was hard to take a picture of my two girls, try three!!

Easter

Easter kind of crept up on me. With it being on Conference Sunday, I didn't even realize it was so close. I wanted the girls to understand the significance of the day and pulled them aisde the night before to talk about Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection. I am so grateful for teaching moments, and though they might not get a lot out of it, I sure do.
Daddy had to work the night before Easter, so as soon as he got home, we all snuck down to see if the bunny hopped by our house (Every night Kiana still says in her prayers that the Easter Bunny should come and hide eggs...haha, don't know if she got much out of our lesson!)

Maile has such a fettish with shoes and purses, just like her mom. These are her new Easter shoes! Here the girls are in the new spring dresses. It is so hard to get them to both cooperate for a photo. These are the best we could get.

I thought that the girls needed to know a little more about Easter, so the monday after, we focused our FHE on Christ and his resurrection (since I previously dropped the ball). I am very grateful for all the wonderful Conference talks that reminded me of our Savior. I loved that we could rest all day and enjoy Conference and hear the prophets as they forcused on our Savior. We are so blessed to have the gospel truths and guidance in our lives, and I hope that I can teach that to my children.

Dying Easter Eggs

The girls really enjoyed dying Easter eggs with their Dad. He bought a cool kit that had a variety of things to do: painting, coloring, the shrink wrap, stickers, glitter, and beads. They thought it was so cool to let out their creative juices on eggs! Kiana even made a special one for Daddy that she drew a picture of him on. He didn't want me to eat that one, but really, what would you do with it?

The Mullins day of Super Fun

We decided to go on a mini vacation for Steve's spring break from work and school, but at th last minute, decided against it. We just needed to save money and had too much going on, but we still wanted to have fun and make some memories for the girls. It was still pretty chilly, so we went to a park and brought subway sandwiches and let the girls play. Grandpa and Grandma, Chani and Trenton and Braxton were all able to come and have fun with us. We flew kites, went on the swings and enjoyed the little bit of sun.We then headed over to the swimming pool, since we had originally planned on going to a hotel and letting the girls swim, we decided to save money and just swim close to home. The girls love to swim. Chani came with us and Kiana had to hang all over her. She is the fun aunt that always gets down on their level and plays with them. Braxton also came with us and enjoyed going down the slide. Kiana really wanted to go down too, but we didn't want to get out of the freezing water to take her.

I couldn't time Braxton going down the slide just right, but here are a few his awesome technique! After such a busy day, Maile was pooped and kept falling asleep in her tube. But her big smile in the end made the day worth it.
We went home and took a short nap, and then headed over to some friends for pizza and games. I love that I can enjoy time with my family. The more time I spend with them, the more I like them. I sure have a lot of good people in my life! This past week, we were able to take Kiana ice skating for the first time. I forgot to take pictures, but I think she had fun and I just wanted to remember it. She kept falling down and was so scared, but got quite good at the end. She would just hold Steve and my hands and we'd pull her along. Steve was so proud of himself. Before we left, he watched a video on the internet to learn how to skate backwards. He did pretty well and also got some turns in. It was pretty cheap, maybe we should go more often. Thanks to some friends for inviting us and for staying with Maile.

In Style

My girls have quite the fashion sense. Every time I turn around, they do something new to surprise me. Maile is so into shoes, it amazes me. She tries on every pair she sees and it is often hard to find shoes for her because she carts them all over the house, carries everywhere and puts them in bags, boxes, and baskets. If I am late for church, know we are just looking for shoes. Maile also seems to be dreesing herself earlier than when Kiana started this. Here is Maile's rendition of "STYLE"!!

The other night Kiana just wouldn't fall asleep, so I just ignored her and went about my business. Every night, once the girls are sleeping ( this is the best time to see them all peaceful and quiet and loving), I sneak into the rooms and stare at them for a minute, give them a kiss, and makes sure the covers are on. When I went in for this nightly ritual, I found Kiana fast asleep with her shades on. A girl must always accessorize!I feel in all the craziness of life, work, school, basement projects, cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, I often forget to take the time to enjoy these beauties. They are the love of my life, and I hope this week I can just be more patient and enjoy them!
