Sanity Trip

I am so greatful for friends that keep us sane. We have some good friends that invited us to the Children's Museum at Discovery Gateway. It was a lot of fun and got us out of the house in an otherwise uneventful week. I took a lot of pictures, so bare with me =)

You can't tell in these pictures, but I had to fight for the kids to be able to get in the cockpit. We were patiently waiting our turns, when some very rude kids just jumped in, I thought, "Heck, their kids, no biggie." Then they let the whole preschool class in. We decided to wait, eat some snacks and try again about a half hour later. We were waiting in line, and the same thing started happening and I turned into Mama Bear. What kind of parent lets their kids act like this, I don't care where you are and if the kids are just having fun. I told the holligans that it was my kids turn and they weren't allowed to thouch the helicopter. Sheesh, I am getting meaner in my old age.

Here are the kids waiting patiently for their turn in the back of the helicopter, no one else wanted the back and they would quickly abandon it.

Here are the kids in the control tower helping the helicopter land in some very windy and unsettling weather. They were having so much fun playing and pretending. Kiana plays really good with Josh, though we did have one biting instance to start the day off. I just don't know what to do with her, and sometimes she is even unprevoked. Any ideas? Off the subject, but I left for work the other day, Daddy and the girls laying on the couch, and within minutes she had bit Maile and left a mark all day long, no reason at all. Anyway...

Here they are pumping water out of this cool water attraction. They liked throwing the balls that looked like bubbkes the best.

We are safe with our neighborhood firefighters coming to the rescue. Emily tried to get everyone from fighting over the front seat and so she showed the kids that they could fill up the tank with gas. You guessed it, then everyone was fighting over who got to fill up the engine...nice try though, on Emily's part.

Maile had to get in on the action. She felt so BIG riding this little bike. Her and Noah had fun too, though they were definitely done when it was time to go.

We got to also participate in this bubble class. It was pretty neat. They showed how to make bubbles and other bubble experiments. They mixed baking soda, I think, with vinegar for a cool overflowing fun. Next they did the mentos thing with normal coke, and again with diet coke. The diet coke was way more explosive (maybe I shouldn't be drinking it !!!) And they showed them how they could catch bubbles in their hands and then just let them play. Sorry about the blurry one =)

Kiana liked the shopping too. She had to tell me all about the things she was buying, then she go to the checkout stand to buy it. She would only get the yummy foods. Here she is eyeing the pepporoni pizza!

Kiana is going through a "horse phase". Everything is about horses. She has to sleep with a horse and watch a horse movie, and much to G-ma and G-pa's surprise, she tells me how they are going to but her a horse, keep it there for her, and she will take care of it (that's what you get when you spoil her so much!) She did not want to get off this horse and was causing a backup. She liked feeding the horse carrots and talking to him. When her and Josh are sharing the horse, she had to be in the front, good thing he didn't care. In the last picture he is being a traffic cop, directing traffic!! We had so much fun. Thanks again Emily. On a side note, we didn't have enough money for parking, and a nice old man took all our change and let us go. There are still some good people out there.

I have to say with the biting that sometimes they don't know how to handle their emotions and feelings. Sometimes kids bite because they LIKE someone and don't know how to show it properly. Thus the "unprovoked" biting. If she was doing it because she was angry that would be different.
