Kiana and I have begged Steve for an animal for years. His answer was always, "Absolutely not!" He surprised me one day when he got home by telling me he wanted to go to the new Kitty City at the Humane Society. He had seen a billboard by his work, and with the grand opening they were selling spayed kitties for $9 for 9 lives. Steve looked up different kitties and teaching tools on-;ine and we were ready to go. I'm not sure I would have picked this particular day or time, but I knew if we'd ever get an animal, I just had to go with it!!
Now this Kitty City ic pretty cool. There were about 20 glass room with 2 or 3 cats in them. Each room had layered shelves to climb and sleep in. There were toys and cubby holes hidding the litter box and tv's with birds and mice and all things nice (for a cat). There were huge glass rooms with about 10 cats in them that were just like jungle gyms to play in. There was also a lounge area to meet and greet your cat. It was all really nice. We looked and looked at everything and fell in love with a blue gray cat with white paws. Her sister was also in there with her. I was looking for a very affectionate cat that would be good with kids and not run and hide whenever someone came to our house. Her name was Misty on the chart, but with that being my parents' cats name, we thought about it all week and settled on Bell. Steve wanted Jinxy, he was out-voted!
We love our little Bell. She is really good and really loving, a little too loving, in the middle of the night. She has to wake me up every hour to pet and play with her and when I don't, she bites my fingers. I am already up too much, and with that, at night she is banished to the main level bathroom. She has a bed and her food and is quite content there. Steve is also determined to toliet train her and has bought a training program. She has done really well with litter, and even the first step on the toliet, but has had a few setbacks lately. Thankfully she has never had a problem on my carpet, and thankfully I am not responsible for cleaning her accidents. I told Steve I train the kids, this one is all on him!
Bell is very playful and fun. The kids adore her, Kiana helps with her, Maile smoothers her, and Jonas sits on her. She is exceptionally good with Jonas and his baby habits of pulling tails and fur and sitting on her! She likes to come and cuddle with me. My only complaints are of her trying to escape every time the door opens. Steve wants her strictly in doors and it is hard to get her back in. The other thing, she digs in my plants and gets on the counters. She is so curious. She loves to sleep in the bathtub, or play in the washing machine while I am filling it with laundry. She likes the dryer and sinks and surprisingly water. She is a nice addition to our family and we sure love her!
