Alex the dog and Kiana were best friends. Kiana has always loved to play with him, run with him, get in trouble with him. We would all laugh, when as a little girl, Kiana would climb into his cage. They loved to lick each others faces (I know, gross, what kind of a mother am I?), and would create trouble together. We watched him a few times, and Kiana would feed him green tomatoes, which he'd throw up. She would spill his water bowl, the big ones like those office water dispensers, and he would eat her socks and Mailes binkies, but he loved to lay at our feet, sleep with us, and protect the girls. At night, he would lay his head on Maile, who was sleeping in her carseat. His big tail would wack things, his long nails scratched our floors, but we loved him.

A couple of weeks ago Alex started to get sick and his back half would no longer work. He has been a part of my Dad's family since birth 12 years ago. My Dad was devastated and called Kiana to come and say goodbye. And still, without working legs, he was so excited to see her and wouldn't stay in his bed.

Kiana always loved to lay on Alex or ride him like a horse, and he was so calm and would let her. Two weeks ago, Alex was suffering too much and Dad had to put him down. We love and miss him and feel so sorry for Dad.

We sure a grateful for the fun memories we have with Alex!
